ORLANDO MAGIC YOUTH FOUNDATION, FLORIDA HOSPITAL AND YMCA-LAKEMONT JOIN CECO ALL STAR CHALLENGE

The Orlando Magic, Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, Florida Hospital and Winter Park YMCA served as lead partners for The CECO All Star Challenge. Children and families filled the YMCA gym to experience a fun-filled physical challenge obstacle course which promoted leading healthy lifestyles while bringing awareness to the services the school provides to support children with motor disabilities. “This is the most fun I've had in a loooooong day - more fun than anyone could imagine!” said eight year-old Olivia Parker. Olivia’s brother, Chandler, attends the Winter Park-based private school that offers a unique blend of therapy and education for children with cerebral palsy and other motor disabilities called conductive education.

The family friendly event was designed for children of all ages, with and without disabilities. The event is open to the public. Hundreds of children, along with Orlando Magic Basketball Team Ambassador Bo Outlaw, challenged themselves and participated in the activities. Over 200 people attended the event and hosted volunteers from such organizations as Morgan & Morgan, Lunch with a Purpose-Orlando, New York Life, and the Rollins Men’s’ and Women’s Soccer Teams. The community awareness showcased the techniques and benefits of conductive education and programs that help children with disabilities reach their full potential.

Just last week, The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, a McCormick Foundation Fund, awarded the Conductive Center of Orlando (CECO) with a $100,000 grant to help fund the afterschool and home visiting programs to serve children with motor disabilities. All CECO programs feature small class sizes (six students maximum) and a unique one-to-one staff-student ratio. CECO also has a satellite center, The Conductive Education Center of Sarasota-Bradenton, (CESB) located in Sarasota, FL.
